“Men and Women Striving Together for Righteousness!”
On Sunday, September 16th, 2012, members of the Greater Turner Chapel Family visited McKinney Chapel Missionary Baptist Church to be apart of their 3rd Annual Combined Men and Women Day, where our own Rev. Ray A. Jackson was the guest speaker. The theme for this event was "Men and Women Striving Together for Righteousness". The theme verse was "The righteous cry and the Lord heareth and delivereth them out of all their troubles" - Psalm 34:17. Rev. Willie Brown and his congregation have visited our church and participated in various programs, so we were more than happy to share in their worship service. Rev. Frank Willis delivered a message at their morning service. Members sang in their choir and our musicians lended their talents to this occassion. Mrs. Nan Jackson provided a wonderful introduction for Rev. Jackson, and he showed out as usual! He cracked a few jokes in his own Rev. Jackson way, and he delivered a power message that everyone enjoyed! His topic was "A Righteous Faith". It felt like Turner Chapel day at McKinney. Rev. Jackson wanted to thank all the members who came out and supported this program, and Rev. Brown told his members to take notes so that when he goes to other churches, he wants them to show up in great numbers as well. The program was wonderful, the singing was uplifting, and the message was timely. The Greater Turner Chapel Family enjoyed being apart of this event, and we look forward to future events!

Rev. Ray A. Jackson has been the pastor at Greater Turner Chapel for the past 12 years, and during his tenure, he admitted that he never gave an appreciation to any of his members. But that all changed on Sunday, April 15th when he surprised Bro. Johnathan Parnell (Nick) with a Certificate of Appreciation for his devotion and dedication to the Greater Turner Chapel AME Church and his work of promoting the church to others. Bro. Parnell was so moved that his "sinuses caused his eyes to water". Bro. Parnell promotes his church on the World Wide Web through the church's website, and through the social world of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. He is also very active in the church, as he is the church Treasurer, a member of the Trustee Board, the senior class Sunday School teacher, a class leader and the Assistant YPD Director.
